Purpose of position
- Help youth entering 7 th-12 th grade improve their English skills in a comfortable, small group, virtual environment, under the direction of a trained professional teacher
Major Responsibilities
- Meet weekly with youth and arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the lesson
- Teach basic digital skills like typing, proper email communication, Google Digital Skills
- Follow prepared lesson plan(s) and provide feedback at the end of each lesson plan to program manager
Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Tech savvy: basic to intermediate computer skills
- Energetic, engaging and enjoy working with refugee and immigrant youth
- Friendly, dependable, prompt, patient and flexible
- Must be 21 years old & able to pass a background check ($19)
Training Required
- Must attend a 2-hr Introductory Tutor Training & Volunteer Orientation prior to tutoring
