The Team ENOUGH Lobbying Collective is the only national, youth-led group lobbying for gun reform. We're seeking young people across Virginia to join us in urging state and local legislators to pass gun violence prevention legislation. We'll train you, give you the policy skills you need to be effective, and then we'll get loud in the halls of power! Please read the position expectations before applying.

The format of the Team ENOUGH Virginia Lobbying Collective consists of 8-9 webinars presented by experts within the gun violence prevention field. We will educate you about specific lobbying skills and the different intersections of gun violence. In the past, these webinars have been held every two weeks, but the frequency will ultimately depend on your availability. These meetings will prepare you with the skills and knowledge that you need to conduct lobbying on gun violence prevention legislation.
If you have any questions, please reach out to:
Rivka Vizcardo-Lichter at rvizcardo-lichter@teamenough.org

Position Expectations:
- Must live or currently reside in Virginia.
- Must be high school to college-age (13-26). Enrollment in school is not mandatory.
- Must actively participate in all of our (8-9) webinars and all lobbying days (we are flexible with scheduling conflicts).
-Show that you're a dedicated member of the Lobbying Collective.

About Team ENOUGH

Location:

840 First St NE, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20002, US

Mission Statement

We are Team ENOUGH, a youth-led organization whose mission is to educate young voices about gun violence and mobilize them to take meaningful action against it. Supported by Brady, we harness the expertise and experience of today’s youth to advance our intersectional work across the country.

Description

We are survivors of gun violence; we are students; we are activists: we are people who experience gun violence in different ways - and to different degrees.

This epidemic has an outsized impact on Black and Brown communities, disproportionately spilling their blood in school shootings, in angry encounters between friends and family, in acts of self-harm and suicide, and in conflicts born of domestic violence - avoidable tragedies, one and all, each made more lethal by easy access to guns.

But we believe that diversity is a strength, and that only when everyone has a seat at the table can we build an effective movement to prevent all gun violence in all communities.

For us, preventing gun violence not only requires regulating access to firearms, but also addressing how systemic racism and environmental factors cause this form of bloodshed to run especially rampant in communities of color.

You cannot talk about gun violence without talking about police brutality, white supremacy, the broken criminal justice system, poverty, homophobia, access to affordable housing, or the often insurmountable barriers separating disadvantaged populations from physical and mental healthcare.

Complex issues call for comprehensive solutions, and Team ENOUGH is prepared to take actions that will produce the answers we need.
