Budgeting for Grants

For most writers, writing is fun, emotionally rewarding, and a way of connecting with people. Imagine your writing also being one of the key factors for supporting children in poverty in Africa. That’s the opportunity you have volunteering at YesLiberia.
We recently purchased a new school bus to transport students to schools and to provide daily "on-the-bus" learning opportunities to various students at no cost to them. While it is an exciting time at YesLiberia, the bus program also presents some ongoing financial challenges. We are looking for skilled writers to help us tell our stories to funders or grant foundations. As an excellent storytelling writer, you will express our stories in a compelling way that connects our programs for success. As a strategic grant writer, you will make our case with support, with research information from our team members, to ensure the numbers and claims make sense for the grant proposal.
No previous grant writing skills or experience is required, but we prefer someone who has some experience. You will virtually work with our small team of volunteers who are responsible for writing and submitting grant proposals for us. For this role we are looking for volunteers who can meet the following expectations and responsibilities:
- EXPECTATIONS
- Strong desire to help children and families in need
- Extremely Reliable, Ethical, and Results-Oriented
- Excellent writing and speaking skills
- Capable of working independently and on a team
- Capable of meeting deadlines and completing assigned
- MUST be experienced with Zoom, WhatsApp, and Google Drive
- Should have skillset/experience writing grants
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ask questions about the program and proposals
- Assist with researching based on specific questions
- Help write specific sections of the proposal based on your preference
- Meet on zoom with our existing volunteers on the grant writing team
If this sounds interesting to you, please apply today. We look forward to speaking with you.

Description
Conviction created YesLiberia. Daily the needs of underprivileged are ignored. We ignore their struggles because it’s easier to deal with the more important things in our lives-- like climbing the corporate ladder and saving money so we don’t become indigent. And some of us ignore their challenges because they bring back unpleasant memories we seek to repress. But disregarding the plight of the underprivileged yields no resolution. Then certain things happen to remind us their struggles exist no matter how hard we try to pretend our needs surpass theirs.
Jallah was convicted by several of those things over a short period of time. The prostitution of children in Thailand reminded him of Liberia. The rape and war in Congo reminded him of Liberia. The genocide in Rwanda reminded him of Liberia. He remembered his underprivileged past--a past where he was seen as less than elite based on his tribal and economic status and where his education came as a gift from the United Methodist Church.
Reminded, he became convicted to act and YesLiberia was founded to educate and help underprivileged Liberians whose plight he intimately understood.
YesLiberia is a 501c3 charity organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service since July 2009. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by law. YesLiberia is also registered at four government agencies in Liberia.
