Volunteer to call and email past recipients of the donated equipment to ask questions about patient’s well-being. We want to find out if the patient has fallen, been to the emergency room, been re-admitted to the hospital since receiving the equipment. And what is the degree of patient independence since receiving it? Also inquire if the patient is done with the equipment and if they wish to re-donate it. No selling is involved, just information gathering. Volunteer can do the number of patients per month that they choose and can work from home.

Our goal is to establish Assist M.E. as the go-to organization for advocacy on behalf of and providing assistance to individuals with mobility disabilities in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg community.
Description
Assist ME takes in gently used medical equipment, such as standard manual wheelchairs, bedside commodes, tub transfer benches, shower chairs, etc. ), clean them up and gift them to low income, uninsured patients. When patients have this type of equipment, they fall less often and are readmitted to hospitals less often.
