Volunteers make their own schedule! Veterans, Seniors, Students and Community welcome!
Our Non-medical Hospice Volunteer provides support to patients living with a terminal illness. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including companionship, socialization, and caregiver relief. There is no medical background needed - our Hospice volunteers do not provide the patient in any medical or personal hygiene capacity (i.e. do not give baths, move or lift the patient in/out of bed, or give medication).
Some examples of what a Patient Volunteer has the opportunity to do:
- Provide companionship
- Socialization and/or support to hospice patients and their families/caregivers
- Reading to the patient
- Playing games
- Writing letters to or on behalf of the patient
Volunteers make their own schedule! We do ask for about 2 hrs per visit. We also have clerical positions who assist office staff and make phone calls to patients.
