Volunteers make their own schedule based on availability. Students & Seniors Welcome!

Our Non-medical Volunteer provides support to patients living with a terminal illness. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including companionship, socialization, and caregiver relief. There is no medical background needed - our Hospice volunteers do not interact with the patient in any medical or personal hygiene capacity (i.e., volunteers do not give baths, lift or move the patient or give medication).

Some examples of what a Direct Care Volunteer has the opportunity to do:

  • Provide companionship.
  • Socialization and/or support to hospice patients and their families/caregivers
  • Reading to the patient
  • Playing games
  • Writing letters to or on behalf of the patient

Volunteers make their own schedule! Some scheduling may be required depending on the need of the patient and/or caregiver. We do ask for about 2 hrs per visit.

We also have positions in the care center office for administrative support. This is patient related although the volunteer does not make in person visits.
