Volunteers make their own schedule!
Our Non-medical Hospice Volunteer provides support to patients living with a terminal illness. Students welcome! Support is provided in a variety of ways, including companionship, socialization, and caregiver relief. There is no medical background needed - our Hospice volunteers do not interact with the patient in any medical or personal hygiene capacity (i.e., volunteers do not give baths, lift or move the patient, or give medication.
Some examples of what a Direct Care Volunteer has the opportunity to do:

  • Provide companionship
  • Socialization and/or support to hospice patients and their families/caregivers
  • Reading to the patient
  • Playing games
  • Writing letters to or on behalf of the patient

Volunteers make their own schedule! We do ask for about 2 hrs per visit. In addition, we also have a need for clerical/administrative volunteers to make phone calls or assist office staff.
