ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army of Summit County

Christmas Toy Distribution Day is December 20th.

This is the time when all the families that were receiving gifts through the Angel Tree program will come by and pick them up.

In order to help the day run smoothly it takes about 3 groups of 30 during the day.

Shift 1 - 8:30-1PM - need about 10 more volunteers
Shift 2 - 12:45-4:30 PM - need about 10 more volunteers
Shift 3 - 4:15-7:15 PM

This is perfect for families, businesses, church groups or individuals who want to be a part of helping kids have a great Christmas.

Please consider signing up for a shift or two to help The Salvation Army.

We are in a new facility at 636 W. Exchange St. in Akron. It's connected to the Post Office at Five Points.

Description

The Salvation Army of Summit County offers a wide variety of programs to persons in need across the county. With free groceries and hot meals, families and individuals can stay well nourished. Utility assistance is on hand to people who have a disconnection notice on their gas or electric. At the Child Development Center, preschool children learn basic skills necessary to enter and excel in kindergarten. The Learning Center, an academic after school program provides homework help as well as time for creative outlets. Children and youth participate in character building programs fostered through an array of recreational activities, music and spiritual guidance. Seasonal giving programs allow low income families to enjoy and celebrate the holidays with donated gifts and food. More than twenty thousand individuals are served through our centers in Summit County.
