Mission Statement
Mission: The mission of the Fort la Presentation is to build an historically accurate reconstruction of Fort de la PWresentation and related structures in proximity to the original site, and to oversee the operation of the site. Our aim is to unite community in support of this perpetual undertaking. Our goals are to educate, to collect, to preserve or maintain, to develop, to research, to document, to interpret, and to recreate educational or historical ventures of interest to Ogdensburg, New York and the St. Lawrence Valley.
Description
We have a group with over 150 members who support our mission statement. A 19 member Board of Directors oversees the maintence of our property, the Fort la Presentation Trail System. The handicapped accessible, pet friendly system includes a series of interpretive pannels, an observation deck, many benches, a stone paver outline of the fort and the award winning War of 1812 Peace Garden. The garden surrounds the Abbe Picquet Memorial Obelisk. Various events are hosted both on site and off including Walk with a Doc, astronomical observations, battle reinactions in the summer and winter, an annual awards dinner and educational experiences.
