Adult Tutoring Program

Overview

We are looking for volunteer tutors to work with Afghan individuals once a week in person for a minimum of 1.5 hours. The majority of the learners are married young women who have no formal education in their own country. Tutors will help the learners with basic conversational skills and cultural connection. An ESL teacher supports tutors by making digital and hands-on materials, activities, and a book available as well as working with them to plan appropriate lessons for their specific learners. Another important piece of our program is digital literacy, helping these parents learn how to navigate the internet.

  • Volunteer tutors meet once a week in person for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
  • Lessons take place in the home of the families.
  • Because of cultural norms, we are only recruiting female volunteers at this time.
