ORGANIZATION: CHEMUNG VOLUNTEER ACTION CORPS (CVAC)

Kitchen Stork, a food delivery program for pregnant and postpartum mothers, is seeking volunteers to assist with weekly food deliveries to participants living in Chemung County. Each week participants order from a list that helps them meet their specific dietary and household needs. Volunteer drivers are matched with several participant deliveries, with each participant receiving 3-4 boxes of food per week, dry, fresh and frozen, with a maximum weight of 15-20 pounds per box. The volunteer picks up the food at Meals on Wheels in Elmira each Friday morning anytime between 10:00am and 11:30am, and then delivers the order to the participant by 12:30pm.

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

CVAC is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.

CVAC provides education and opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. CVAC volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, food pantries, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. Our staff members work with agencies and organizations to offer individuals maximum flexibility and choice.

With CVAC you can either enroll as a Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer to work directly with our programs, or sign you up as an affiliated volunteer and work with any number of partner agencies. In both cases, we match your interests to those of agencies needing your skills and talents.
