Are you a "people person" who enjoys helping others? Interested in a unique way to give back to your community or earn service hours for school? This could be the role for you!

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a discount home improvement center that sells donated materials and home goods to help build homes in San Diego County. We also help the environment by keeping TONS of usable goods out of landfills.

We are looking for energetic volunteers to help organize the store, assist customers, and accept donations. Our ReStores in Escondido, Kearny Mesa, and National City have flexible shifts! The stores are open to volunteers from 8:30 am until 4 pm every Tuesday - Saturday. If you need to arrive late or leave early, simply sign-up for whichever shift(s) fits your schedule. Find something you like while volunteering? All volunteers get 15% OFF in our ReStores!

The minimum age to volunteer is 14 with an adult chaperone or 16 on your own. We are happy to verify your hours for school credit or to set-up a group volunteer experience! Simply contact us at volunteerservices@sandiegohabitat.org.

We could not achieve our mission of building homes, community, and hope without volunteers like you! Register to join our team today by visiting http://vhub.at/habitatvolunteermatch

About San Diego Habitat for Humanity

Location:

8128 Mercury Court, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111, US

Mission Statement

The mission of San Diego Habitat for Humanity is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. This is achieved by creating affordable homeownership opportunities in partnership with families and individuals throughout San Diego County.

Description

We partner with families to help build or improve a place they can call home and to find the stability and security they need for a better future. Homeownership can seem like an unattainable dream here in San Diego, but we work alongside future homebuyers to make those dreams become reality. Our programs include:

New Construction - Money fundraised and mortgage payments from previous homes are used to purchase land, and we utilize thousands of volunteer hours to build homes. Homeowners go through a lengthy selection process and join volunteers onsite, contributing 250 hours of sweat equity per adult applicant as their down payment on their home.

Home Repair - We have 2 distinct home repair programs - Neighborhood Revitalization and VetRepair. Neighborhood Revitalization focuses on repairs for homeowners in the neighborhoods where we build new construction. Through VetRepair, we provide repairs for Veteran homeowners throughout San Diego County. Both programs include critical home repair projects (which may include major utility or roof repairs, which need to be subcontracted) or exterior home repair, which is much more volunteer friendly.

ReStore - The ReStore is our discount home improvement center where we accept donations of building materials and home goods. The sale of those items help to fund our mission. We have 3 locations throughout the county - National City, Kearny Mesa, and Escondido - in addition to an online store.
