Seeking Musicians to visit Hospice Patients

Do you know the many benefits of music? Not only does it elevate mood, it reduces stress, depression and pain. If you would like to visit patients to bring happiness and help them along their journey this might just be the opportunity your looking for. Please note all volunteers must be 18 years of age to visit patients.

To become a hospice volunteer at Hospice of the Valley the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book, helping create a scrapbook, and as needed, offering support, providing relief for the family members and caregivers. Volunteers do not provide clinical or personal care, but can provide social visits to a patient, or give the caregiver a little break, or time to rest. Volunteers can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. Volunteers can also assist with routine tasks and errands.

Our requirements: Volunteers receive 11 hours of online training and ongoing support. Volunteers work with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the multi-disciplinary hospice team. For the safety of yourself and our patients you will be required to wear a mask. All personal protective gear and training will be provided by us.
