FACILITIES AND LANDSCAPING VOLUNTEER

Purpose

The purpose of the facilities team is to help create and maintain habitats for our wild bird patients and to keep our facilities and grounds maintained and running smoothly for operations. The facilities team works with the support and guidance of our facilities committee, Maintenance Supervisor, and Clinic Director.

This Opportunity Is Available to People Who:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have skills or experience in plumbing, carpentry, general construction, landscaping and other areas, with the knowledge to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Have a strong interest in completing tasks associated with maintenance, landscape, and gardening
  • Enjoy being outside
  • Enjoy being part of a team, but can work independently with minimal supervision

Examples of Tasks Performed by the Facilities Team

  • Repairing enclosures and changing out sand in habitats
  • Painting, spackling, and repairing surfaces
  • Mowing, removing invasive plants, and general landscaping
  • General building maintenance and upgrades
  • Note: The Facilities Team are often performing tasks in close proximity to our wild patients; therefore, proper protocols, safety guidelines, and clinic etiquette must be followed at all times.

Time Contribution

  • Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 6 months of service
  • Volunteers are expected to donate at least 4 to 10 hours of service per month, based upon on-going project needs.
  • All volunteers must complete a New Volunteer Orientation
  • Volunteers must sign a release form, volunteer agreement, and provide emergency contact information.

The mission of Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research is to provide professional, compassionate rehabilitation to native injured and orphaned wild birds and contaminated wildlife, and to promote their stewardship through education and humane research.

Description

When native birds have been found injured, orphaned, or ill, the community turns to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research. Our professional staff and volunteers provide the best, if not only, chance these animals have to return to the wild. We are a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation center that specializes in wild, native bird species.
