LaAmistad Afterschool is back in-person and we are in need of compassionate, community-minded volunteers to provide its students with homework help 2-4 days per week! Help stem the tide of COVID-19 learning loss.

The primary objective of LaAmistad Afterschool is to increase positive academic outcomes for under-resourced Latino students. Secondly, LaAmistad Afterschool seeks to instill students with virtues, convictions, and study habits that will serve them well throughout their academic careers and beyond.

LaAmistad is seeking volunteers that can provide elementary age homework help at an after-school program. Volunteers work alongside 5 staff members, including an Afterschool Teacher, Bilingual Parent Liaison, and Reading Specialist. No Spanish or education experience necessary!

This site offers volunteer hours Monday and Wednesday 3:30 - 5:00 PM

Field of Interest/Skills: Early Childhood Development, Sociology, Psychology, Nonprofit Administration, Civic Engagement, Spanish, Communications Studies

Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to serve as consistently as possible, but are not bound by any strict requirement to do so. On program days, the time commitment is about 1.5 hours, with 2 opportunities to serve per week.
