The Grant Writer is committed to Cornerstone Collaborative Florida’s mission and values and is responsible for developing, writing and submitting grant proposals to foundations and other grant- making organizations. This position will persuasively communicate Cornerstone Collaborative’s mission and programs to potential institutional funders and is an essential part of Cornerstone Collaborative’s Program Leadership team. The Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests and reports, establish and maintain contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this volunteer work successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

* Excellent writing, analytical and research skills

* Ability to craft funding proposals in a clear, concise and compelling manner.

* Self-motivated, detail-oriented and highly-organized.

* Experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial and philanthropic information

* Ability to work under pressure, and multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.

* Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work efficiently.

* Manage multiple short-term projects.

* Write and monitor private foundation, corporate, and government (city, state, federal) grants.

* Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings as required.

* Collaborate and participate with the Cornerstone Collaborative Team on grant writing.

* Flexible hours - may require some travel and evening and weekend assignments.

* Participate in organization-wide work efforts and events.

* And such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this volunteer role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required as the Grant Writer.

Education/Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one (1) years of experience in non-profit grant writing is required.

* Excellent grammar, strong research skills and high level of computer literacy.

* Experience writing Federal, State, City and private foundation grants in the fields of social services, legal, health services, education, youth programs and community development is preferred.

* Experience in non-profit direct services and/or program coordination is highly desirable.

(4) promote positive health, nutrition, and wellness for individuals and communities, (5) disrupt the school to prison pipeline (6) lower recidivism in the justice system (7) end cycles of community violence and generational poverty through financial literacy and economic opportunity, and (8) establish social impact finance models to reduce government spending.
