ORGANIZATION: Hostelling International New York

HI New York's facade
Richard Morris Hunt was the architect of our building. The front facade of the Metropolitan Museum and the pedestal that the Statue of the Liberty stands on are two other structures that Richard Morris Hunt designed.

Do you enjoy interacting with people from different countries and cultures? Are you interested in sharing your knowledge about NYC history and the history of our many communities? Everyday, we offer tours and outings for hostel guests wanting to see and experience all that New York City has to offer. We invite you to bring your area of expertise whether it be a neighborhood, type of food, art--to curate a custom tour. This is a great opportunity to meet and engage with people from around the world.

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HI USA?

PURPOSE/DEFINITION and HI USA MISSION

HI USA is 501(c)(3) non-profit education association. Our purpose is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people places and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues we receive through overnight stays and memberships is reinvested in mission delivery.

Who We Are

We bring travelers together in the largest hostel network in the USA, but that’s just the start: from local tours and experiences, to experiential learning programs, HI USA strives to bring moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization that reinvests our surpluses back into our hostels and programs so they can have an even greater impact, year after year.
