Help older adults in the Clintonville, Beechwold, and University District areas keep their yards clean this fall!
Village in the Ville connects older adults in the Clintonville, Beechwold, and University District areas to volunteers willing and eager to help them keep their yards clean of leaves and other debris. By helping to maintain their yards and homes, our volunteers help to ensure our aging neighbors can remain a part of our community for as long as possible!
So, if you're someone who enjoys fall weather, the outdoors, and playing in the leaves, all while helping to make a difference in your community, then this volunteer opportunity may be for you!
You can sign up individually or as a small group, and families are certainly welcome! Once you sign up, you'll receive an email from a Village staff member connecting you to an older adult that needs help maintaining their yard. Tasks may include raking leaves, clearing sticks, and other things. Timing is flexible, but volunteers should plan to set aside 1 to 3 hours for volunteering. Prior to the volunteer date, Village staff will make sure all tools and necessary yard waste bags are at the service site.
If you have any questions, please contact Timna Haines at timna.haines@clintonvillecrc.org or (614) 404-1526.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to cultivate a community rooted in connectedness that celebrates diversity and promotes reciprocal volunteer assistance among older adults.
Description
Although we are a program of the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center, we are a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Our story;
A small group of friends noticed the need to support aging folks in Clintonville. They founded Village in the Ville in 2015 after learning about Villages, which are communities that help older folks overcome the challenges of aging.
Our organization has grown to about 100 members and 70 active volunteers. We have helped dozens of our members stay in their homes, rather than moving into nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
We provide services for our members that become harder with age. Our opportunities include, but are not limited to, helping members with; yard care, grocery shopping, transportation to their doctors' appointments, home repair, meal preparation, technology assistance, and snow removal during the winter.
Weekly, we hold events for Village members. Recently, events have included visiting parks, museums, restaurants, pumpkin patches, and shops (in masks, with social distancing). Also, we frequently offer virtual yoga, tai chi, computer proficiency, and art classes, along with regular virtual book club meetings and coffee hours. Frequently, we invite experts to speak to members about various topics, like social justice and health.
