Quick Overview: Depaul USA is looking for skilled handymen, plumbers, and carpenters to complete special projects for the Casa Milagrosa Day Resource Center. The ideal Pro Bono volunteer will play a key role in assuring that the resource center and grounds are maintained to enable Depaul USA to provide a warm, welcome refuge to those affected by homelessness in the Westlake community in Los Angeles.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: The ideal Pro Bono volunteer for the handyman position will be proficient in miscellaneous around the house type repairs like carpentry, basic plumbing, painting and basic electrical but also know their limitations and recognize when a repair is outside of their skillset and is thereby willing to make a recommendation for a replacement. The ideal Pro Bono volunteer will be a self-starter with good time management skills. Candidates do not need to be licensed tradesmen, but those candidates are also welcomed to express interest! Responsibilities include:

Finish carpentry and cabinet installation

Electrical - Wiring and fixture installation

Plumbing - General plumbing skills

Paint - General painting skills

Requirements:

Must have at least 1 year of experience in plumbing and/or electrical

A current Driver's License

Bilingual (Spanish / English)

Preferred Time Commitment: 4-6 hours, 2-3 times a week for 3-6 months.

Physical Requirements:

This opportunity is on-site.

The ability to lift 50 lbs.

Age requirement: This opportunity is for age 55 and older volunteers only.
