Help kids learn about food systems, farming, animals and the environment as a Field Trip Docent.
Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a nonprofit organization working in the Pajaro Valley community to empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems. Additionally, Farm Discovery offers educational programs that inspire youth and families to transform their relationship to food, farming and nature.
Local schools bring students to the farm and docents welcome school groups, help lead educational tours, and run educational stations at the farm working with 12-15 students at a time.
Training and support are provided to all volunteers. You can also take fresh veggies from the farm home with you!
Volunteers must be self-motivated, detail oriented and have superb verbal communication skills when presenting to kids. Volunteers work independently at their stations and as a part of a team for leading large groups - so dependability and flexability are important.
Volunteers are also expected to uphold the ethical standards of the program, maintain confidentiality of students and act with integrity.
Volunteer shifts are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am - 12pm, March-June.
