Position: Library Literacy Americorps Member
Service term: November 2022 - October 2023
Commitment: 450-hour quarter time member contract
Tuesday-Friday or schedule as agreed upon by site supervisor

In partnership with the California Library Literacy Services and Literacyworks, the Lake County Library Literacy Program is recruiting for two quarter-time Americorps members to serve a one-year commitment. AmeriCorps members will tutor adults to improve literacy skills, recruit adult learners and volunteer tutors, and assist with other programs and operations including the Family Literacy program. Position will serve at the Lakeport Library with potential to travel to other library branches in Upper Lake, Clearlake, and Middletown to support learners countywide. This position requires 450 hours per year, approximately 10 hours per week. Applicants should have a strong interest in literacy and/or community outreach and be good at building rapport with diverse groups of people.
Requirements:
- Must be over 17 years of age
- Must be US citizen, US national, or legal permanent resident alien of the US states
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Must complete application and interview
- Must complete all items required for member file including signed member service agreement.
- Must pass specific background checks (Truescreen and Fieldprint)
- Member training & service begins November 2022
Benefits:
- Receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance to cover basic expenses. Paid twice a month: Quarter time $115 ($3,000 for year) (note that taxes are withheld from the living allowance)
