BECOME A MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER
We rely on over 200 volunteers each weekday to assist with delivering a hot, nutritious lunch to homebound seniors. Driving, walking and bike routes available. With 22 center locations, you can choose your preferred or nearest location to volunteer at! To view our different locations - CLICK HERE and scroll to the bottom to find a map.
Some of our larger locations have higher volunteer needs which include:
- Elm Court center - Downtown Portland
- Cherry Blossom - Outer SE Portland
- Ambleside - Gresham
- MLK Center - NE Portland
- Meals 4 Kids - located in Multnomah Village but DELIVERS PRIMARLY TO SE PORTLAND AND GRESHAM
All volunteers must be 18 or older, have a valid drivers license, car insurance, personal vehicle and pass a background check. Any driver under the age of 18 with a valid license must be accompanied by an adult. To find out more about Meals on on Wheels Delivery, CLICK HERE

Driving shifts vary by site and are typically from 9am-2pm. Shifts are about 1.5 hours long.

Mission Statement
The vision of Meals on Wheels People is that no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation. We enrich the lives of seniors and assist them in maintaining their independence by making nutritious food, social contacts and other resources easily available. Our organization is community based, emphasizes volunteer involvement and is financially sound.
Description
Meals on Wheels People is a nonprofit, secular organization that has provided seniors with hot meals and opportunities for health, hope and friendship since 1970. Each year more than 7,500 volunteers prepare and deliver 1.3 million meals to seniors in the Portland-Vancouver metro area. The loyal support of our volunteers combined with the generous financial contributions of our donors keeps the vision of Meals on Wheels Centers alive.

- Delivery routes take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. For new drivers, this may take up to 2 hours. Each route has a maximum of 8 stops, at times less depending on the route.
