As a mentor in our Dare to Dream program you will 'walk alongside’ a youth in foster care as they navigate life’s challenges. These young people need the wisdom, advice, encouragement and sense of community that your mentorship can bring.

As a mentor you meet with them twice a month (as a minimum) to give emotional and practical support, as well as offering guidance through development milestones.(eg. tests, learning to drive, relationships etc) The goal is for them to feel supported and equipped to navigate life.

We also ask that you commit for at least a year; consistency and 'showing up’ is a crucial part of what our programs are all about. Hopefully this relationship will last a lifetime! Research tells us that consistent and healthy relationships play a crucial role in healing for a youth who has experienced trauma in their lives. This is an opportunity to help play a part. The minimum age for mentoring in our program is 22.

You would be assigned a Case Manager who would carefully match you with a young person, and is a constant support and source of information as you navigate your mentoring journey.

Mission Statement

The Cleveland Angels mission is to walk alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Description

Our vision to ensure that every child, youth, and family in the foster care community has healthy, affirming, and lasting relationships. We do this by educating and empowering the local community and by recruiting compassionate, committed, and diverse volunteers to offer support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Our dream is to open National Angels chapters in every metropolitan city in the nation so every single child in foster care in the United States will be supported and empowered to succeed. We believe our programs further the greater good of local communities and provide a real and tangible role to play within the foster care system.

Our motivation is to ensure every child feels a deep sense of belonging and care, every youth reaches their fullest potential and achieves their dreams, and every fostering family feels seen and supported along their journey.
