Program Coordinator - KEEN Chicago

At KEEN Chicago, we strive to provide an atmosphere where all youth have equal opportunities for recreation, fitness, and friendship, creating a space where youth of all abilities and backgrounds are accepted and included. We work with youth with disabilities ages 5-21, providing a safe space for movement and fun.

Established in 2004, KEEN Chicago has and continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Today, we’re proud to be one of the biggest advocates for Chicago’s youth with disabilities. We’ve gone as far as we can without expanding our dedicated staff. And that’s where you come in.

We’re seeking a Full-Time Program Coordinator to be the eyes and ears for our Executive Director. This position is responsible for running our programs, taking attendance, maintaining our database, and generally enhancing program elements and providing organizational support.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will work with a dynamic group of volunteers and families to create and maintain weekly recreational programs for young people with disabilities. This position is 35-40 hours per week including some weekend and evening hours to attend and manage in-person programming. Work outside of in-person program sessions is on a flexible schedule and completed from your home office. The Program Coordinator is responsible for all program activities as well as any program-related inquiries.

Specific Tasks

  • Attend and lead KEEN programs and special events
  • Maintain accurate records and database of Coaches and Athletes during KEEN sessions
  • Manage behind-the-scenes administrative program logistics such as scheduling gym times; organizing and replacing necessary equipment; managing vendor contracts; sending program reminders etc.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents, volunteer coaches and local community groups
  • Program related database management such as volunteer approvals, program enrollment etc
  • Recruit, train, and retain program volunteers and leaders
  • Develop seasonal program calendar for KEEN Athletes in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Empower volunteer leaders to take charge and run as much programming as possible
  • Attend and manage community outreach events
  • Contribute to grant applications, program newsletters, and other marketing materials as relevant
  • Assist with organization-wide event and administrative logistics as needed
  • Work closely with the KEEN Chicago’s Executive Director to maintain highest standards of safety and fun during KEEN events
  • Other duties as assigned and relevant to the role

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Word/Excel, Google documents and database management (Apricot 360)
  • Familiarity with the disability community and a passion to advocate for those that live with disability
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to successfully interact with diverse groups of people
  • Positive and energetic approach to job responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work a mix of weekends, weekdays, and evenings
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in social media including Facebook and Instagram is a plus
  • Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Other Details

  • Flexible schedule outside of in-person programming
  • 15 paid vacation/holidays and 5 paid sick days annually
  • Full time, approximately 35-40 hours per week
  • Must have reliable transportation methods to and from KEEN program sites and occasional ability to transport session equipment to and from programming
  • Salary range $35,000-$40,000
