AHN Healthcare@Home

As a Caregiver Relief Volunteer you would be asked to visit with a patient who lives in his/her own home. You would be asked to stay with the patient while the caregiver steps out to run errands or go to an appointment. We closely manage these assignments so that the caregiver and the volunteer have a clear understanding of the restrictions placed on volunteers that ensure the safety of the patient and the safety of the volunteer. Many times, the patient may be asleep for the entire visit so we encourage the volunteer to bring an activity with them to keep themselves busy. These visits require coordination with the caregiver for a specific time of visit. Due to restrictions of what the volunteer is permitted to do while with the patient, visits are limited to a window of 2 hours or less.

Per state and federal regulations, volunteers will have to submit to a background check; a drug screen and a TB test - all of which we will pay for.

We also provide a thorough training so that you feel comfortable and confident in your role as a volunteer with us.
