Under the supervision of the Manager, Special Events & Volunteers, this Internship will provide the candidate with hands-on learning experience on the development team with Children’s Hunger Alliance, a statewide 501c3 nonprofit. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist with special event receptions and fundraisers, as well as corporate and community volunteer engagements. Over the course of the internship, the candidate will directly assist with agency events and preparations and learn technologies like Raisers Edge, GiveSmart, that help Children’s Hunger Alliance connect with attendees/donors to raise more than half a million dollars in Special Event revenue.
Schedule: 12 hours a week. 4-hour time blocks, up to 3 days/week, semester long commitment. Open to
discussing alternate schedules and will consider longer internships on a candidate-by-candidate basis.
Desired Candidate Qualifications:
* Interest in special events, nonprofit administration, and/or hospitality management
* Strong interpersonal communication skills
* Resourcefulness, resilience, & creativity
* Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
* MS Office Suite & Excel Proficiency
* Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn something new
Special Event Support (50%)
* Outreach to targeted companies/groups/individuals by email, in person, phone for silent auction
participation
* Attend event planning meetings to become familiar with event objectives and learn process of how a nonprofit of this
size plans and executes multiple fundraising event.
* Event Administration (RSVP and attendee tracking, assisting with preparations of event documents or
supplies)
* Onsite day-of for fundraising events as a key contact to assist Manager, Special Event with nonprofit fundraising
event execution. May include some/all of event set-up/program support/tear down/load out
* Potential for research of event venues, event sponsorship prospects, or other event related requirements

Volunteer Engagements Support (40%)
* Learn how CHA conducts volunteer opportunities at the warehouse and mobile sites around the state
* Assist (or lead) large groups of corporate or community members at warehouse or mobile sites around the state. No overnights required. Driver’s license may be required.

Description
We partner with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to at-risk children who need them most. We help day care providers, day care centers, local school districts and afterschool and summer programs provide balanced, healthy meals to children in their care. Our team of educators also deliver nutrition education and lead children in physical activities to provide a balanced approach to childhood health.
Children’s Hunger Alliance has a team of 50 professionals throughout the state who are passionate about ending childhood hunger in Ohio’s 88 counties. Our home office is in Columbus, Ohio with regional offices in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo.
