Recruiting Organization: Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities
The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA) is the statewide organization that represents the interests of Ohio’s county Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health (ADAMH) Boards. As the Health Equity, Research, and Education VISTA, you will be working with the OACBHA team to support our Boards’ vision of Ohio’s mental health and addiction services system from focusing on acute care to recovery management while prioritizing and promoting health equity efforts. As Ohio takes steps to address the mental health and substance use disorder impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the public health crisis associated with racism, it is critical that we invest in systems of care that effectively address the full range of substance use and mental health problems within all communities. The local Boards support all individuals, families and communities in getting healthy, being healthy, and staying healthy. The OACBHA Health Equity, Research and Education VISTA member will develop a better understanding of Ohio’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Board system and the work of OACBHA; create educational materials and presentations related to mental health and addiction services with a specific focus on health equity; conduct research related to identifying and promoting best practices; develop educational opportunities and resources for the field.
Member Duties : The OACBHA Health Equity, Research, and Education VISTA will work collaboratively with OACBHA’s team to strengthen Ohio’s county and community efforts to address addiction and mental health needs by helping Ohio’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Boards enhance and expand the public’s understanding of the local community systems of care. The VISTA member will be responsible for attending committee meetings, composing virtual and written communications and educational materials, and routinely performing research. The VISTA member will be integral in developing community outreach opportunities; researching and writing educational materials related to addiction and mental illness and best practices for prevention, treatment, and recovery; and building partnerships with other community organizations and stakeholders.
