WesleyLife Hospice volunteers are invaluable to our team! Whether you want to work directly with patients and their families or prefer to work behind the scenes we have opportunities for you. Our opportunities do vary depending on the needs of our patients and their families.

All volunteers are required to complete an application, a background check, and drug screen/physical. Training will be provided for your role.

Bereavement volunteers call families who have lost loved ones on a regular basis during their 13 month bereavement period. This can be done remotely or in our Urbandale office. Bereavement volunteers may also send sympathy cards and routine mailings. These volunteers assist our bereavement team in wrapping their arms around our families who've experienced a recent loss. Time commitment for this opportunity can be as little as an hour a month or as much as you want.

If you are interested in volunteering contact Diana Ferriss, Volunteer Coordinator at dferriss@wesleylife.org or 515.229.7366. You can also fill out an application: http://bttr.im/m837f

Mission Statement

Guided by Christian compassion, we support the independence, health and well-being of older adults wherever they call home.

Description

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a life of continued growth, experience, engagement, and meaning, regardless of physical, social, or economic circumstances. Aging is an opportunity. The second half of life can be the best half!

Our comprehensive network of services is designed to fulfill the wishes of older adults to remain independent and active wherever they choose to live. Because we have a vision of transforming the aging experience, we focus not on limitations, but on possibilities.

We strive to be the thread that leads families to better solutions and binds them with the strength and support they need to maintain loving and healthy relationships. At WesleyLife, we celebrate a spirit for living!
