Backman Elementary is a Title 1and HUB School in Rose Park. We are currently looking for volunteers interested in working with students in grades K through 6th. There are volunteer opportunities before, during, and after school hours, working inside and outside the classroom. We do require a background check with the Salt Lake City School District before beginning. Opportunities include cross guards, recess/lunch duty, teacher assistants, tutors, after-school activities. There are ongoing as well as one-time opportunities as well.

Mission Statement

We are looking for outgoing and dependable volunteers willing to provide primary grade students reading below grade level with additional reading practice. Volunteers will be provided the required training and targeted lesson plans needed to be able to help students tackle difficult texts. Volunteers must be able to commit to volunteering at least two hours each week, for one school year and be able to meet all the volunteer requirements of the school district.
