Must love seniors. Compassionate Artists bring the arts to low income seniors living in assisted living facilities. We are looking for volunteers to help with our arts & crafts programs in Long Beach, Downey, and Bellflower. Expected commitment is 2 hours a month (two sessions). Our sessions are run weekdays at 10am (9:30am set-up).. We are looking for help for 1 - two hour sessions a month. We can be flexible with the days of the week. Mission Statement: Compassionate Artists is a tax-exempt organization that brings the JOY of the Music, Dance and Art to residential care facilities for financially-disadvantaged seniors who no longer have access to the arts. Compassionate Artists understands the importance of the Arts throughout our lifetime. We understand that participation in the arts can improve cognitive function and contribute to emotional, psychological and physical health.
Description
We visit low income senior facilities and present music, theatre & dance performances. We also provide a variety of hands on activities including arts and crafts, movement, sing-a-longs, and readers theatre. We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to share their gifts with others.

- You must have patience. We work with a very vulnerable population. Many. have been abandoned in these facilities. Must be on time and fully present while with our seniors.
