Open Door Animal Sanctuary needs volunteers! We don't have specific titles - but we need people who are interested in working with the dogs OR cats.

Depending on whether you want to work with dogs or cats (or both!), the responsibilities can include daily walks, attending adoption events, working on basic obedience, brushing, bathing, and even just playing and cuddling! A shelter is a very different environment than a home, and we need lots of hands to keep all 350 of our animals happy and healthy. While it is not required, our volunteers are always encouraged to help with cleaning as well - our dishes and laundry really never end here.

Choose your own shifts, create your own schedule, and come when it is convenient for you. Our animals will thank you for it!

About Open Door Animal Sanctuary

Location:

Mission Statement

ODAS is a no-kill shelter dedicated to preserving the life and health of homeless cats and dogs, providing shelter, food and veterinary care while fostering their social skills and facilitating their adoption into loving homes.

Description

Open Door Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1975 by Joan Costello and Carol Perkins, and is now one of the largest no-kill shelters in the area! Our mission is to provide homeless cats and dogs with the highest quality of life and a chance at finding a forever home. We care for roughly 350 animals every day. We have several programs that benefit our community, including low-cost spay & neuter, a Pet Food Pantry, and Seniors-for-Seniors. Our volunteers are an essential part of the well-being and socialization of our animals here at Open Door.
