This position supports the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC), an International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reference center hosted by the International Services Department (ISD) of the American Red Cross.

This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.

The GDPC supports innovation and learning in disaster preparedness to enhance the international network of Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) national societies disaster management capacities through a service-oriented and demand-driven approach to building community resilience.

This opportunity requires virtual participation and requires the tools and resources to perform job duties from a remote-at-home environment. The Visual Communications Team Lead will oversee the team of GDPC Visual Communications volunteers including graphic designers and video editors, who support programmatic activities and strategic social media communication. The volunteer in this role will develop the oversight and process that supports the engagement structure and strategy as outlined in the Engagement Cycle. This volunteer will provide guidance and coaching to department staff and volunteers and participate in supporting onboarding activities as assigned.

Identify volunteer and staff resource needs for the Visual Communications Team

- Be knowledgeable about department playbook, overview, rules and regulations

- Provide guidance and tools for the Visual Communications Team volunteers to effectively manage the tasks necessary for their unique roles

- Provide coaching and guidance that creates a healthy environment for the Visual Communications Team volunteers to excel in their unique roles

- Support the Visual Communications Teams overall structure which includes the engagement/training/onboarding of volunteers

- Provide support to the GDPC with any new Visual Communications initiatives or pilot programs as needed

- Maintain regular two-way communication with GDPC staff to ensure the Visual Communications Team is actively engaged and supported
