Internship Opportunity at Refugee Enrichment and Development Association (REDA)
Position: Education and Youth Engagement Intern
Location: Sacramento, CA 95825
Duration: Fall Semester 2024
Hours: Monday - Thursday 5-6PM, 6-7PM or 7-8PM (ONLINE only 2 Hours/Week)
About Us:
The Refugee Enrichment and Development Association (REDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting refugee students and their families as they transition to life in the U.S. We provide educational assistance, enrichment programs, and social support to empower young refugees and help them thrive in their new environment. Our efforts have been recognized by the San Juan District as the Most Valuable Partner for two consecutive years.
Internship Overview:
We are seeking dedicated interns to join our Homework Club and Youth Engagement programs. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in health, education, social work, and community development to gain hands-on experience working with refugee students. Interns will play an integral role in supporting students from 6th to 12th grade with their academic needs while fostering their personal growth through extracurricular activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with homework in subjects such as History, Math, and English.
- Provide basic instruction for newly arrived refugee students who need additional academic support
- Support our Youth Group Mentorship program, offering guidance to help young refugees adjust to life in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for education, youth development, and supporting refugee communities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with diverse populations (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
