Over the past seven years, Equal Origins’ work has directly touched the lives of nearly 500 male and female farmers in eight countries through our innovative capacity-building programs. We have developed a variety of tools and resources to help inform and activate industry influencers to take action to address gender equity and generational engagement in the coffee supply chain. New programs are in development for 2023 and our next decade of opportunity.

Who we are:

Equal Origins works to ensure a prosperous future with fair and equitable opportunities for every member of the coffee farming family - women, men and children. Since our founding in 2014, Equal Origins has conducted research, developed tools, and activated coffee companies to build transformative impact in the sector to address gender equity collaboratively for a global, transformative impact. In 2015, Equal Origins published its first research to identify the impact of gender inequities on the coffee value chain and determine how the sector could respond collectively. The Way Forward: Accelerating Gender Equity in the Coffee Value Chain has become a key resource for industry actors and is the foundation for Equal Origins' work and collaborative engagement to tackle the issue of gender in a variety of contexts.
