We are in need of volunteer assistants in each of the following nine counties. We are offering a recovery program and each for our session is taught by two instructors. We are in need of volunteers to support the instructors and help the individuals who have registered with their attendance. We are still searching for locations throughout northern New Jersey so we don’t have the confirmed addresses but we do have the target counties listed below. Volunteers will help with registration, assigning water bottles, ordering food and any other duties which the instructors may ask them to support. The program begins October 1, 2022 and commences September 30, 2023.
Description of the program: Young adults aged 18-26 give yourself some much needed time off and reserve your spot for our Somatic Mindfulness Recovery Program.
New Jersey Parent’s Caucus in partnership with the Balance and Harmony Foundation are offering a free Somatic Mindfulness Recovery program for families in Northern New Jersey and the surrounding areas. Counties include Morris, Warren, Essex, Sussex, Bergen, Passaic and Union. We will be holding 4-hour sessions with experienced instructors for young adults aged 18-26. There will be relaxation and mindfulness exercises, writing and/or drawing and some gentle movement offered to the participants. A healthy snack and water bottles will be available. This program comes to you at NO COST. To ensure individual attention for each participant we will have a limit of 10 individuals for each session. There will be two instructors at each location. Description
The New Jersey Parents' Caucus is committed to our mission through the provision of programs and services for families raising children with emotional and behavioral challenges who may be involved in the Mental Health, Special Education, DYFS and/or Juvenile Justice system. Our organization is primarily staffed by parents and caregivers, many of them with advanced degrees, as well as a multitude of volunteers who are committed to uplifting families in the state of New Jersey and improving their access to appropriate treatment, services and supports. Our programs include Information and Referral; Community Outreach; Training & Education: Parents' Empowerment Academy - Professional Parent Advocacy Training (6 week educational curriculum for parents, caregivers and professionals serving families); Advocacy services for families struggling in the Mental Health, Special Education, DYFS/child welfare, Juvenile Justice, and Developmental Disabilities arena; Man Talk Fatherhood Educational Initiative for fathers and male caregivers; NJ Youth Justice Initiative for special needs children who are incarcerated as adults; Monthly E-Resources Newsletter; Statewide Youth Group; Families Uplifted Prevention Initiative (OJJDP) for families raising children in at-risk communities; Youth Workforce Development Training Program; Parent Mentoring Program for families involved in the child welfare system and our website www.newjerseyparentscaucus.org
