VOLUNTEER TEACHING ASSISTANT - TRAINING PROGRAM

This role supports WEV's training program by acting as a teacher's aid for remote classes. Your contribution allows our talented instructors to focus on class material and student questions while you handle zoom. Great opportunity for folks interested in learning about entrepreneurship and business development!

BEFORE CLASS BEGINS

  • Review instructor manual and/or slides, note any resources or links that will need to be dropped into the chat.
  • Create any polls needed for Curriculum in Zoom account
DURING CLASS SESSION
  • Monitor client activity in the Chat window
    • Respond to questions (if you know the answer, ex. A question about where to find a Zoom control)
    • Relay questions to the instructor when appropriate
      • "Jeff, Amanda has a question she shared in the Chat - 'Do service businesses need to fill out the COGS form?’"
    • Put any mentioned resource links, survey links, or contact information that is shared by a guest speaker into the Chat for clients to utilize
  • Watch the participant list and notify instructor if someone has been raising their hand and the instructor has not yet noticed
  • Manually mute a participant if they are off mute during instructor-led training and don’t notice/are making noise
  • Manage Zoom breakout rooms as needed
    • Participants working in pairs, in random groups, or in pre-assigned groups that need to be manually created (ex. Master Mind groups)
    • Wait in "Main Room" to assist participants as needed during Breakout Session. Instructor occasionally visits breakout groups to guide discussion or answer questions.
      • Participant loses internet connection, drops, and signs back on, needing to be placed in their breakout room again.
    • Broadcast messages to all groups as needed
    • Time breakout room sessions to align with curriculum and/or instructor-led time frames
    • Close breakout rooms
  • Launch and close Zoom polls
