ORGANIZATION: Masakhane Center

Masakhane Center is currently looking for volunteers to assist us in creating materials for our community events and workshops. Volunteers can work remotely and/or in-person.

COMMITMENT

We are looking for people who can:

  • volunteer at least 10 hours a month
  • commit to volunteering for at least 6 months
  • be available at least one weekend day a month (Saturday or Sunday)

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Volunteers must attend one of the following online orientation days:

  • Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

All times are in Eastern Time.

WE ARE SEEKING PEOPLE WHO CAN...

  • Advocate for sex positive, pleasure-focused education.
  • Advocate for reproductive justice, including full abortion rights and the rights of young pregnant and parenting folks.
  • Advocate for the rights of people marginalized for their orientations, gender alignments and/or expressions.
  • Be creative.
  • Use (or learn to use) Microsoft 365, Teams and Canva.
  • Work collaboratively.

Masakhane is a youth driven organization providing community-based sexuality education in and around Newark, NJ. Masakhane’s anti-racist, pro-queer & pro-trans approach to sex-positive programming seeks to promote sexual liberation, including the right to pleasure, for marginalized communities.

Description

Our programs are usually conducted in a series of at least 6 workshops where we hit on a variety of sexuality topics that are important to the audience. We are available to work with people of all ages in all settings (schools, shelters, parenting groups, places of worship, etc.).

We have a vibrant internship program that provides young people with real world sexuality education experience and training.
