In light of the horrific war in the Ukraine, PPSC (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center) mobilized to form the PPSC Refugee Support Project, a group of volunteers throughout the mental health and lay community, to provide crisis and support services to refugees, their families and service providers impacted by the war. Volunteers in the PPSC RSP fall into several categories: Licensed Clinicians/Therapists, Translators, Asylum Advocates and Administrative Volunteers.
The Clinical Coordinator: will offer 1-2 hours per week to support with receiving referrals, triaging/identifying their needs, checking the availability of our existing Volunteers in our database, keeping our database as updated as possible, and matching Referrals with the appropriate Volunteers. Referrals can be refugees, their loved ones who have been impacted by the war, as well as direct care providers who are exhibiting signs of burnout. Timeliness in communications is a must. A Licensed Mental Health Provider will be your direct supervisor and can guide your efforts every step of the way.
Professional letters of reference/recommendation from PPSC can be requested by Volunteers and will be awarded to those who are actively engaging in the role which they have expressed interest in.12 More opportunities with PPSC'S Refugee Support Program
