Join Natural Restorations for our 7th annual Lower Sycamore Cleanup Event!
Everyone is welcome, including youth volunteers when they are accompanied & supervised by a parent, guardian, or adult group leader. We would be happy to sign off on service hours or provide a Confirmation of Volunteer Service letter for youth volunteers.
Use this link to register for participation: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/417499370857
Sign-in: 7:30-8:00 a.m. | Safety Briefing: 8 a.m. | Cleanup starts: after safety briefing | Free raffle starts at 12 p.m.
Please arrive 25-30 minutes early so you can park and get signed in.
Directions: Lower Sycamore is North of the Bee-Line at the Bush Highway Bridge. We are meeting at the parking corral at the bottom of the hill to the right of the blue dumpsters. Come over to the sign-in table located under the green Natural Restorations shade canopy to sign in & get a free raffle ticket. Plan your route ahead of time in case we are in a spot where we can’t get cell signal.
GPS Coordinates: 33.641574, -111.545925
Plug the GPS coordinates above into your phone or mapping system.
Do not use the EventBrite map to get here, it will send you to the wrong location. Use the GPS coordinates above to get to the event staging location.
Volunteers with OHV’s & 4x4’s: this is an OHV area cleanup, if you have an OHV or 4X4, we need your help running the trail down to the wash to pick up trash. If you have a truck or trailer, we could use your help hauling loads of trash to the dumpsters. Please bring sturdy work gloves, especially for stuff that has been used for target practice.
Non OHV/4-Wheel Drive Volunteers: You do not need an OHV (off-highway vehicle)or 4x4 to participate, the road to the sign-in table in is graded but wash boarded so drive slowly & carefully. We highly recommend not driving a car past the parking corral at the bottom of the hill where you sign-in or you will likely get stuck. There are plenty of areas within walking distance of the parking corral that need our help.
Everyone will meet back at the sign-in area at noon for a free lunch.
We will have several designated 40-yard dumpsters for everyone to put their trash in so we can get an accurate weight of the amount of trash everyone helped remove.
What to wear: Check the forecast & dress accordingly. Please wear clothing & shoes that can get dirty, muddy, and possibly wet. Wear long pants, thick-sole & closed toe sturdy shoes (no flipflops/sandals), a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
What to bring: please bring a reusable water bottle or hydration backpack. We will have coolers with water & ice for you to refill and bottled water if anyone needs it. We will provide gloves, bags, trash grabbers, buckets, & rakes. You will be near your vehicle the entire time so you could bring a small cooler with cold beverages if you'd like.
Snacks: We will have light snacks for volunteers including apples and bananas.
Unfortunatley, our grantor will no longer cover lunch for volunteers.
Tonto Recreation Pass: You do NOT need one for this location.
Bathrooms: There are no bathroom services at Lower Sycamore. The nearest bathroom is at Butcher Jones Recreation Area (https://goo.gl/maps/p6LpWCxtcbGCxGo58).
NR Merch: We will also have Natural Restorations branded t-shirts, hats, stickers, and Tru Flasks available for a donation. Natural Restorations is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Gilbert, Arizona. 100% of the proceeds go back into our Restoration Programs.
Youth Groups: If you need youth registration paperwork ahead of time for parent/guardian signatures, please email us at contact@naturalrestorations.org and we will email them over to you.
Large Groups: Please have your group leader email us at contact@naturalrestorations.org for a group sign-in sheet to save time the day of the event. The group leader can get everyone in their group signed in on the 9th and turn the sheets into us at the registration table.
This project is financed in part by a grant from the Arizona Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Fund administered by Arizona State Parks & Trails.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to remove trash, graffiti from outdoor recreation and wilderness areas, revitalize natural areas through replanting projects, and enrich the lives of military veterans and other community members.
Description
We remove trash, graffiti and anything foreign to the environment from outdoor recreation and wilderness areas throughout the state of Arizona. We replant burn scar areas by salvaging cacti that would otherwise be destroyed on construction sites and we transport them to burn scars where our team replants them. We provide contract work to Military Veterans on our Dedicated Restoration Team and host volunteer events for the community, including youth volunteers.
We have a passion for nature and we believe outdoor restorations and education ensures everyone will be able to enjoy outdoor recreation and wilderness areas. We approach every project with a commitment to long-term change and making lasting impacts in communities across the state.
We have removed over 1.5 million pounds of trash (791+ tons), planted over 53,500 trees, plants & cacti, and removed over 42,451 square feet of graffiti. We have provided over 17,400 hours of contract work to military veterans on our Dedicated Restoration Team. We have hosted over 107 volunteer events and completed over 141 restoration projects with our Dedicated Restoration Team.
