ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross of Southeastern PA - Headquarters

Perhaps the best protection against emergencies is education. The American Red Cross would much rather meet members of the community before a disaster than after. This is why we offer free programs for different ages and organizations led by Volunteer Instructors, Presenters, and Assistants. This is your opportunity to share your knowledge, to flex your teaching abilities, and to use your communications skills, all while doing your part to save lives and property. All training provided; only sign up for shifts and sessions that fit your schedule!

DISASTER AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR YOUTH - You always wanted the big desk!
The Red Cross offers two age-appropriate youth curriculum: Prepare with Pedro the Penguin for grades K-2 and The Pillowcase Project for grades 3-5. Volunteer Instructors and Assistants serve a guest teachers at elementary schools, youth camps, etc. delivering interactive lessons focused on local hazards, coping skills, and personal and family preparedness and actions to take during an emergency.

DISASTER AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR ADULTS - Help families and organizations save themselves!
Be Red Cross Ready teaches people how to prepare for and respond to disasters likely to occur in their community. Participants in Hands Only CPR learn how to check for consciousness, call 911 (or the local
emergency number) and give continuous chest compressions. Ready Rating helps businesses, schools, and organizations become better prepared for disasters and other emergencies. All of these are led by volunteer Presenters and Assistants.

HOME FIRE CAMPAIGN - Installing knowledge and more!
By appointment, so it’s always on your schedule, work with your team of fellow volunteers installing free smoke alarms and delivering home fire safety education. No prior experience required; everything is
provided, even refreshments and transportation to appointments.
