we have placements available in various programs that would give volunteers an opportunity to participate in one or more depending on their interest. Volunteers can either choose to take part in the children program, community outreach program or the youth program.
Volunteers teaching in Kenya must be English or Swahili speakers, have a good command in oral and written English or teach Swahili, be flexible patient and tolerant, have passion and love for teaching in Kenya.
Volunteer teaching in Kenya is a very good opportunity for volunteer teachers with an educational background to gain expansive experience in their teaching profession. These schools are in the remote villages and urban areas experiencing shortage of qualified teachers who are unable to handle the overwhelming number of students in a single class as of free primary education which was initiated by the government in 2002. This has called for a great need of volunteer teachers who can speak and write English or Swahili to assist these communities. Kenyan 844 system or Education entails 8 years in primary school, 4 years in secondary school and 4 years in tertiary level. In primary schools volunteer teach English Math, Science, Kiswahili, Social Studies, Christian Religion education, Music and Art & Craft. In Secondary school, volunteer teach English, Kiswahili, Math, Chemistry, Physics, History, Biology, Home science, Geography, Agriculture, Business studies, foreign languages, Wood work, drawing and design, CRE, Aviation, literature, Physical education among other subjects depending on the school.
The main language used in teaching in Kenya is English and Swahili. Volunteer teachers will handle pupils between the ages of 6 to 15years in primary schools and students between the ages of 15 to 20 years and in secondary schools.
We ensure Some of the environmental challenges include land degradation, deforestation, liquid and solid waste management and air and water pollution. Major causes of environmental pressure include floods, poverty, wildlife, deforestation etc.
In this program we try to bring an end to environmental destruction and improve the environmental condition in Kenya today. This practice will lead to maintenance of global biodiversity, fruitful productivity and steady ecological systems.
Our organization has been involved in various activities within the country which include; tree planting in schools, private and trust lands, community farms, and intensification of environmental conservation that volunteers involved in our programs enjoy a totally unique experience throughout their placement duration all year round. Volunteers are advised to be open minded and flexible to adopt living and working conditions in the host communities while at the placement.

Description
We are a community based organization based in Northern Kenya. We are offering volunteering opportunities with school children, non-school going children, as well as morans and others. The foundation has various programmes consisting of an "Informal Education/Advisory Programme", a "School Programme", a "Business Programme" and a "Community Building Projects Programme". The first involves health, life skills, literacy etc. advise, whereas the second is based at New Dawn Primary School which has a huge lack of teachers, classrooms and resources. It also addresses issues like parents’ ignorance and tries to bring those who are in the bush looking after goats back to school. We work in a culture-preserving sustainable way.
This is one of the few volunteering opportunities based in Northern Kenya where cultural beliefs and practices are still very much alive, within pastoral communities (Rendille), and you will get to live within, experience and see people wearing a lot of beadwork and manyattas all around the clock. On top, the project is located just around a Game Reserve with lots of animals like lions, elephants, antelopes etc.
