The Finish Strong Learning Pod welcomes the involvement of individual students (high school or college) who like working with children and/or those seeking community service hours. As a Learning Pod volunteer, you could be a homework helper, reading buddy, activity assistant, or even the leader of your own special project.

The Finish Strong Learning Pod is a free enrichment program that serves K-5th grade students from underserved communities. All students must be at least 5 years old at the time of registration with the program. We believe in creating a village of support for our students by partnering closely with parents and guardians. The program operates Monday through Wednesdays from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

The program provides the following services:

  • Homework Help/Tutoring
  • Reading and Math Enrichment
  • Tutoring
  • STEAM Activities
  • Mindfulness
  • Sports
  • Food Security

Description

Programs

  • Finish Strong Learning Pod: Educational program serving K-5 students from underserved local communities. Our focus includes closing the digital divide in education for low-income families, helping eliminate the homework gap, and implementing programs to strengthen communities (career readiness, financial literacy, coding, computer learning classes, proctoring exams, GED preparation).
  • Strengthening schools: Providing access to education in Kenya through strengthening existing schools or launching new schools
  • Women's Empowerment: Supporting the Women's Empowerment Center in Kenya that is designed to launching women entrepreneurs who are able to sustain their families and communities
