EYH Chicago is a one-day conference held each year to encourage young women to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. At the conference, girls can pick from a series of hands-on workshops to attend, including topics such as food science, biomedical engineering, and particle physics.
The students have a great time learning about new careers and participating in hands-on activities. The workshops are led by female professionals from a wide variety of STEM careers. The ultimate goal is to motivate girls to become innovative and creative thinkers ready to meet 21st century challenges!
Love what we do? Join the Organizing committee! EYH Chicago Organizing committee members are made up of people of all genders and walks of life - all dedicated to making sure EYH is a great learning experience for our students. Volunteers work throughout the year. We have a wide variety of roles to fill and can work with your availability.
Choose a role that plays to your strengths! For most roles, members work in small teams of 2-4, each team taking ownership of one aspect of the conference (planning workshops, managing facility logistics, running a social media account, acquiring food, recruiting students, fundraising etc..). Working together, we make the EYH Conference a success each year!
In light of COVID-19, our organizing committee meetings will be held virtually. Our next spring conference is expected to be held in March 2023; we strive for safe and socially distant in person conference at University in Chicago as the situation allows.

Mission Statement
Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) is a one day symposium for middle school girls showing them the exciting and diverse experiences science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers have to offer. We are an entirely volunteer-run and donation-supported organization, so we are always looking for more helping hands. We hope to welcome you aboard!
Description
The Chicago EYH is a career conference specially designed for girls in grades 6 through 8 from local school districts. The conference encourages girls interest in science and mathematics and provides positive female role models in science, math, and engineering careers. Local, often women-lead, organizations volunteer to put on hands-on workshops for the girls. We also provide motivational talks from role models in STEM and career counselers.
