Mission Statement

Focus on Communities United for Success (FOCUS) provides community development through IT Workforce Training. We offer underserved young adults in Baltimore IT training to help propel them out of a cycle of poverty into meaningful employment in the Baltimore tech workforce.

Description

We have partnered with CompTIA, the computer industry provider of IT certification training, to train students in the tech skills they need to pass CompTIA’s A+ technology certification exam. The certification is the preferred qualifying credential companies look at when hiring IT professionals for their companies.

The training consists of 240 hours of hands-on classroom training that we created to align with CompTIA’s exam requirements. Classes are taught by industry professionals who have extensive, comprehensive knowledge of the inner workings of the information technology field, and who have the experience and specialties to transform our students into capable, qualified graduates.

Our goal is to ensure that we train a sufficient number of under-served workers with the appropriate skills and credentials to address the lack of diversity in the high-tech workforce.
