The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) has launched "The People’s Money" - NYC’s first-ever citywide participatory budgeting process! All New Yorkers, age 11 and up, will be able to decide how to spend $5 million in expense projects.

Participatory budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members decide how to spend part of a public budget. Our organization, The International Child Program (ICP), has partnered with the CEC to record the ideas from our youth. We need volunteers to empower these voices during educational sessions.

About The International Child Program (ICP), Non-Profit

Location:

127 W127th Street, Suite 126, New York, NY 10027, US

Mission Statement

ICP utilizes the arts to raise funds to help educate and support children. Concerts of music and theater are utilized as fundraisers. The concerts are also used to service and support other non-profit organizations that work with children from low-income households.

Description

The international child program (ICP) serves as an exchange for thoughts and interests of youth from around the world. ICP focuses on children from low-income households who have a love of learning and an interest in travel. ICP hopes to show young people that travel is the best education that life can offer.

ICP's mission is to brake down today's racial barriers. ICP asks its youth to return its energy to that of a child. Children do not discriminate; society teaches them negative stereotypes; to hate; and to segregate. ICP teaches them to return to the mind of a child; and learn about other human beings before judging them.
