Consider joining the Refugee & Immigrant Advisory Council (RIYAC) for its 7th year! Since its beginning, RIYAC’s mission to inform and advocate for the Newcomer and Immigrant community in King County, by engaging students and parents to solve highlighted challenges to make our new communities a better place to live and thrive. In 2022, focus for the RIYAC will be on health, education, and transportation.

Why become an Advisory Council member?

Becoming a Council member offers both personal and professional benefits:

· Improve equity and inclusiveness in King County

· Gain community organizing, advocacy, and leadership skills

· Network with other young people and community leaders

· Receive a yearly member stipend of $500 for your participation

Eligibility Requirements for Advisory Council members:

· Refugee or immigrant status, or a child of a refugee/immigrant.

· Commit to RIYAC meetings and community events (estimated commitment: 60-70 hours total, no more than 5 hours per month)

· Ages 14-25 years old

· King County resident

· Have a demonstrated passion for change and community leadership

· Able to make a year commitment.
