Wycombe Museum and our volunteers

Volunteers are a vital and valued part of the Wycombe Museum family. We value every skill that people bring and every minute that people give to us, and endeavour to have every volunteer feel appreciated and enjoy the time they spend helping us. We strive to have a relationship with our volunteers based on mutual respect and understanding.

What is involved?

Our big grounds need some help staying beautiful and safe for the public to enjoy. Our garden is full of trees, flowers and features our very own Motte! We also have a stunning and precious sensory garden created by the local college students. The grounds have a lot of potential and we are eager to make the most of it so now is a wonderful time to get involved.

Some things you might be doing include...

- Planting flowers

- Helping to keep our plants healthy

- Pruning and hedge trimming

- Clearing weeds and ivy

- Keeping the paths clear and safe

- Keeping our Motte clear and safe

- Adhering to health and safety regulations

- Helping us come up with ideas to make our garden even better for the public

Who would be supporting me?

The Visitor Experience Co-Ordinator, Angie, would be your main point of contact. On a daily basis, the Duty Manager and our gardener will be helping you.

Where and when would I be volunteering?

Volunteers will be based at Wycombe Museum located on Priory Avenue, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, HP13 6PX. We like volunteers to come in when the gardener is in to begin with unless the weather is unsuitable.

What is Wycombe Museum looking for?

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic person who is happy to get stuck in, learn new skills and adhere to health and safety regulations. We would like volunteers to wear something suitable, safe and comfy while they garden. This is not a visitor facing role but visitors may want to chat with you about the gardens.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn as you will have some help learning everything else. An interest in Wycombe History is a bonus! If you do have any experience gardening, please do let us know.
