Tech Squad volunteers provide basic, in-person technology teaching and support for our homebound elderly clients. Tech Squad volunteers do not have to be technology experts but rather feel comfortable with technology, teaching, and troubleshooting.
Members of the Tech Squad assist clients with devices including desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and cellphones, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. Some Tech Squad members may volunteer to work with clients who have received Android tablets through a partnership between Heights and Hills and the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA). Tech Squad volunteers may request to work with the same client for successive sessions.
The Tech Squad is integral to the mission of Heights and Hills to support older adults who are aging in place while keeping them connected with the community.

Mission Statement
Our mission statement is guided by the following beliefs: older adults are assets to their communities. Older adults' skills, experience, and wisdom enhance our civic organizations and institutions as well as individual lives. Further, older adults are entitled to live as independently as possible, with dignity and personal choice. In support of our mission, Heights and Hills operates three programs for older adults and their families: Case management for older adults, Caregiver support to family members, friends or neighbors who aid loved ones, and the Volunteer team who recruits appropriate volunteers to perform one or two of these services: the friendly visiting program, a volunteer becomes a companion to a senior and visits every week for an hour's time. Special Project volunteers aid in a variety of areas, this can be a grocery trip on behalf of a client, delivering birthday flowers or a much-needed wheelchair, this is a flexible opportunity.
