Please join us for our free Fall Planting Event, Plantemonium 2022!

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is performing year-round restoration of the Rosewood Nature Study Area so that it can continue to be a thriving educational and environmental asset to our local communities. A significant part of this restoration is the removal and treatment of invasive plant species, and in turn, planting native species in its place. Twice a year, spring and fall, we hold a large volunteer driven planting event to get roughly 1500 healthy native plants in the ground and host some fun community collaboration. These events always produce a massive amount of habitat enhancement for wildlife, strategic management of invasive species, and a big day of fun for local families and community members. As an added bonus, and thanks to the support of the US Forest Service, we also have a huge team of 150 goats living on the property through the fall to perform spot weeding treatment. Come and see this amazing herd explore the river banks and wetlands while they're eating up lots of invasive weeds and contributing to the restoration. Don't miss the three herding dogs that protect and help them move around, it's quite the sight!
Volunteers will have a great opportunity to learn about the ecology of our local wetlands and help develop one of the major parks in the Truckee Meadows with our Wetland Restoration Technicians. Volunteers will be supplied with the proper tools and directed to a specific area of the Nature Study Area that needs planting. You'll then be able to choose your own variety of plant and choose where to plant it within your designated area. The project site's Wetland Restoration Technicians will take care of initial watering of each new plant as you plant as many as you'd like! This is a very kid friendly activity and we encourage families to come participate! Please wear appropriate clothing and outdoor boots/shoes. Please bring your own water bottle and gloves if you can. Accessible bathrooms and a water refill station will be available at our Visitor's Center.

We'd love to see you there! Please register at https://www.tmparksfoundation.org/plantemonium
