535 North Fifth Street, San Jose, CA 95112, US

Mission Statement

The Japanese American Museum of San Jose's (JAMsj) mission is to collect, preserve, and share Japanese American art, history, and culture with an emphasis on the Greater Bay Area.

Description

JAMsj helps maintain the area's unique cultural identity. The museum teaches an important lesson on the protection of civil liberties during this critical period when constitutional rights are questioned during wartime. It also addresses the contemporary trends and issues facing young Asian Americans.

The Museum has attracted a variety of visitors from local residents to tourists from out-of-state, and even international travelers.
